VLADIVOSTOK. August 4. VOSTOK-MEDIA - 13 supports of the bridge across the East Bosphorus strait have been completed in preparation for the APEC-2012 Summit. 12 of them at Nazimov Peninsula and the other two at Russky Island, stated the project manager Nikolay Rogov, Assistant General Manager of USK MOST. The construction of temporary supports for erection of framework of trestle bridge which is set to commence in the nearest future is underway as well. “The construction of 32 supports out of 33 provided for in the project is carried out in normal around-the-clock mode”, - stressed Nikolay Rogov, - “12 of the completed supports are trestle pillars and the other one is a bridge pillar. The concreting of supports at Nazimov Cape and Russky Island is under completion. Along with the construction of main structures, the construction of temporary ones for erection of the first span of the bridge, which is set to commence in August, is now in full swing. M-11, which is currently being concreted on Russky Island, is the most complicated pillar among the supports under construction. The pillar is located at the mainland, at the rock and is the highest one – more than 60 meters high. The piled footing and the structure of M-11 is to be concreted with 3,500 cubic meters of high-quality concrete under the project. The complicated configuration of the inner part of the bridge support envisages engineering utilities and equipment for subsequent exploitation of the structure. “Taking into account the unique characteristics, safety requirements and serviceability of the bridge to Russky Island, it will be equipped with a state-of-the-art computer-aided monitoring system”, stated the Senior Project Engineer of Production department of Vladivostok branch of USK MOST Yevgeny Yatsenko. That’s why the bridge supports are very complicated engineering structures. Once the bridge is constructed and put in commission the integrated hardware and software system will allow to monitor structures on line and control traffic.
