VLADIVOSTOK. May 26. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Korean Leader Lee Myung-bak held a telephone conversation Tuesday at the initiative of South Korea, Kremlin’s press-statement said.
During the talks, Korean President informed his Russian counterpart of the increased tensions between the two Koreas after the South formally accused the communist state of sinking its warship.
Medvedev thanked Lee Myung-bak for the detailed information and offered his condolences to South Korea over the multiple-victim accident. In addition, he expressed hope that despite the seriousness of the situation the two countries will exercise restraint and prevent escalating the tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
