VLADIVOSTOK. July 21. VOSTOK-MEDIA – State Oceanic Administration of China has issued a report saying that several bathing beaches in Dalian, China, which are so popular with tourists from Primorye, are contaminated with oil.

The oil spill was caused by an offshore pipeline explosion last week at the citys Xingang Port.

The report also said that a large oil slick has been spotted on the water surface during an inspection of the seashore near the Jinshitan beach, a third part of which has been contaminated. The oil spill has also heavily affected the Banchuidao Island’s bathing zone, but it has already been cleaned up by appropriate government agencies. At least 38 square kilometers of sea water have been severely affected by the accident, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.

Four oil clean-up vessels continue collecting the oil.
