VLADIVOSTOK. July 27. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Aleksandr Koftun, who is believed to be a member of the gang, dubbed the “Russian Rambos”, which allegedly killed one police officer and wounded several others in May, said in a interview with his lawyer, which was captured on video and posted on YouTube, that he was tortured by the police and forced to admit the charges against him at the pretrial detention facility.
Avrora Rimskaya, a spokesman for the investigative committee of Primorsky Krai Prosecutor’s Office, said law-enforcement authorities have launched an investigation into the YouTube video showing Aleksandr Koftun complaining about being beaten by the police during interrogation.
“On July 8, I was kicked in the head and crotch,” Aleksandr says in the video. “Also, they split my legs apart and pushed me down.”
When asked by his lawyer as to why they did it, he said “because they said the evidence I give is not what they need and to make me stop writing letters of complaint.”
“On July 20, I was smothered with a plastic bag and I blacked out several times. They finally made me sign bogus confession of killing four people.”
“Did you commit these crimes?” asked the lawyer. “No, I didn’t,” he said.
