Human Rights Do Not Relate to Olympic Games
China Objects to Political Calls of Boycotting Summer Olympics
China vigorously argues against the calls of private individuals and organizations trying to politicize the Beijing Summer Olympic Games in 2008 on the plea of human rights protection.
That was said by China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yang Jiechi after his talks with David Miliband, UK Foreign Secretary, Chinanews.ru repots.
“Private individuals and organizations are trying to impersonate representatives of the international community, but they have no such right,”- Yang Jiechi stressed.
In his turn Miliband said that the issue of human rights shouldn’t be raised on the threshold of the Olympics. He says that Great Britain opposes to the calls of boycotting the upcoming sports events on political grounds.
