The Spring Draft Campaign Starts in Russia

VLADIVOSTOK. April 1. VOSTOK0MEDIA – 305,506 people should try on a military uniform in the period from April 1 till July 15. The number is three times as much as last autumn.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed that draftees serve and will serve one-year term.
About 40 % of officer personnel were transferred to civil offices. And there are only 4 positions left in republican and regional commissariats. The most sweeping changes occurred in district military commissariat where there is only one officer position left – military commissar. Moreover, the military-drafting structure was changed. There will be two departments in commissariats. One of them will deal with conscript and contract soldiers and the other one will be charge of mobilization.
There is also an innovation in medical examination of draftees. Previously the examination was carried out by civil doctors attached to military commissariats. But now draftees will be examined by military doctors. Groups of these doctors will be attached to commissariats during the period of recruit induction. It is planned to form 125 such commissions. Extended examination will be conducted in the military hospitals.
