A woman will have to pay for false alarm

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK. June 1. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Last Saturday, May 30, at 09:35 p.m. (local time) a duty officer of Russian Emergency Ministrys branch in Sakhalin Oblast received a message from a female resident of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk that her son who had been fishing with three other persons in the vicinity of Lesnoe village gave her a phone call 5 minutes before and told her that something had gone wrong with their boat and then the communication broke down and was not reestablished ever since.



Rescue teams were sent to the place of occurrence but their searching along the offshore coastal strip did not bring any positive results.



4 rescue teams and 2 patrol groups, 3 cars, 3 motor boats, 2 vessels and helicopter with two rescuers on board as well as many other state agencies were attracted to the search and rescue operations.



Soon after two children and two adults, persons that were considered missing, were found. It was found out that during the telephone conversation with his mother one of the alleged missing persons mentioned a boat. A female resident of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk mistook the situation and gave an emergency call to a local MES branch which later turned out to be a false alarm.



Taking into account all circumstances, namely the alarm proved false and the number people that took part in search and rescue operations totaled 61 person and 15 units (including vessels and a helicopter) they are looking at a possibility of suing for damages caused by search and rescue operations.
