Russian truck manufacturer Kamaz is looking for production site in Khabarovsk.

KOMSOMOLSK-on-Amur. December 1. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The possibility of opening of a car manufacturing company in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, which was reported by the 5th Channel in a coverage dedicated to the upcoming visit of the Russian PM Vladimir Putin to France, aroused keen interest among residents of the city. The news from the economic front, where the intense anti-crisis actions are in high gear, bring a glimmer of hope that the industrial center of the Russian Far East will be selected for construction of the car assembly plant Nissan.

In its report on Renault, which owns 25 % of AvtoVAZ shares, the 5th Channel stated that the French automaker is ready to invest EUR300 million in the Tolyatti-based automobile manufacturer in the form of technologies and know-how and to commence assembling there both their own models and the cars of a Japanese company, which is half-owned by Renault and let out the fact that the French giant also plans to establish Nissans car assembly plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The news was quickly picked up by Komcity.ru news website, which subsequently clarified that only the cheapest left-hand drive Almera Classic may be produced there.

The economic meltdown seems to work wonders: cities of the Russian Far East become the sites for car assembly/manufacturing plants. In the end of December, SOLLERS plans to commence car manufacturing in Vladivostok on the facilities of Dalzavod AO. The project consists of three steps: Firstly, master SsangYong roadster manufacturing, secondly, to master production of Isusu trucks and the third step is to finish a complete-cycle of the production-line.

During the recent enlarged meeting of the Khabarovsk Krai Government, it was noted that the Russian truck manufacturer Kamaz is looking for production site for assembling trucks in the capital of Primorsky Krai. The truck manufacturer has already got an eye on shop floors of the 18th Military Plant of Russian Defense Ministry and currently continues looking for additional suitable premises. During the meeting, a representative of Kamaz has handed an invitation to Khabarovsk Krai Governor Vyacheslav Shport by Kamaz management to attend a meeting in Moscow and discuss this project. The Governor, in his turn, stated that he is ready to meet anywhere in the world if the talks will lead to a practical result.
