Roe Deer Found in Vladivostok

VLADIVOSTOK. November 2. VOSTOK-MEDIA – A roe deer was found within the limits of Vladivostok. The animal was allegedly caught in taiga and kept in a garage, from which it managed to escape, reports Komsomolskaya Pravda daily.

“When I saw a roe deer darting past my window I couldn’t believe my eyes. I thought I was seeing things,” - says Irina Borisova, senior veterinarian at Domashniy Zoosad veterinary clinic.

But all doubts were dispelled presently. A man came in the clinic and told he saw a roe deer running by. The animal tried to spring through a hole in a fence and stuck.

The animal was extricated from the fence uninjured and brought to the vet clinic. The roe deer is now kept in an open-air cage.

As soon as the animal was brought here we bought a lot of fruits and hay. Our new guest eats two kg of apples daily,” – says Irina Alexandrovna.

Veterinarians say it is a one-year-old buck weighing about 40 kg. The only thing they are uncertain about is how the animal did get to the city.

There is a forest nearby. The roe deer might come from it. Or he might as well be caught in taiga and kept in some garage, from which it managed to escape,” - Irina Borisova speculates.

The animal will be transferred to a safari park located in Shkotovsky district, Primorsky Krai.
