VLADIVOSTOK. June 3. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Today, the workers of 178th Shipyard went on strike. The reason for the strike was nonpayment to the workers. As it turns out the management tends to distribute wages on a quarterly basis. During Q1 the personnel worked for no compensation whatsoever and only by the beginning of April the workers could get money earned. We are currently seeing more of the same. – The employees haven’t received a dime since April. It is worth noting that managers of the shipyard live in a "milk-and-honey" land unlike the blue-collars. The maximum salary of a worker is about 14, 000 rubles. But and this small sum of money is not paid in due time.
As June came the workers patience exhausted and they went on strike.
Salary non-payments finally attracted attention of prosecutor’s office. Subsequently a criminal case was initiated.
