Three Person were Injured as a result of Ammonia Leak in Fishery Vessel in Vladivostok

Rescue operation completed, gas leak eliminated

VLADIVOSTOK. June 3. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Three crew members of fishery vessel located in Vladivostok have been injured as a result of ammonia leak. The rescue works have been already completed, gas leak has been eliminated, reported press service Far Eastern Center of MES of Russia.
On the evening of June 2, 2009, a gas leak was reported by a duty officer that had taken place aboard a trawler berthed at Diomid Works in Diomid Bay. There were 16 persons on board of the ship at the moment of the accident. As soon as the accident was reported the operational group of MES, two fire departments and officers of Vladivostok rescue service set off to the port. On arrival at the place the vessel was examined and the ammonia valve was blocked off. To prevent spreading of the hazardous gas outside the ship a water curtain was set. Ambulance crew provided medical assistance to the three crew members, who had been poisoned, at the scene. Two of them refused hospitalization. One person with medium poisoning was delivered to the municipal hospital.
