Kamchatka Man Gets 13 Years for Sexual Abuse

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. September 3. VOSTOK-MEDIA – A 39-year-old resident of Manila, a village in Kamchatka, who appeared at Kamchatka regional court, has pleaded guilty and sentenced to 13 years in prison today on charges of child sexual abuse.

It was found out that during the period December 2003 to October 2009, the 39-year-old man resided together with his adopted daughter in Manila and exercised his parental duties. He repeatedly raped the girl and threatened to kill her if she told anybody.

A criminal case was launched against the Manila man for four counts of child sexual abuse.

The defendant admitted partial guilt but claimed that he did not threaten to kill the child nor did he use violence against her.

The defendant has pleaded guilty in three cases and got 9 years in prison for each count. However, the man was sentenced a total of 13 years in a maximum security facility, because his sentences run in part concurrently.

The court decision is final and could not be appealed to the Supreme Court, a Kamchatka regional court spokesman said.
