Primorsky Krai Forestry Management Plan Improves the Regional Environment

VLADIVOSTOK. September 4. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Since 2009 new kinds of agreements on the lease of forest plots, which are expected to enhance forest management and improve the environment, have been emerging in Primorsky Krai.

The new agreements on the lease of a forest plot are provided for in the “Primorsky Krai Forestry Management Plan” – a strategic plan for development of forestry in the region. The document sets priority forest use types, which gave new impulse to forest lease for recreational use in the southern forestry districts of Primorsky Krai – Sergeevsky, Vladivostoksky and Artemovsky forestry districts. So far 26 forest plots totaling 171 ha were leased for recreational use this year.

Experts state that the Forestry Management Plan reflects the demand on forestry plots by the Primorsky Krai leaders of the major investment projects. This document is supposed to facilitate the lease of forest plots for engineering and construction purposes. In addition, the document sets areas for carrying out geological study of subsurface resources as well as construction of power transmission lines, highways, pipelines and hydraulic engineering structures.
