Five-Star Hotel to Be Constructed at the Site of Vladivostok Marine Passenger Terminal?

VLADIVOSTOK. December 4. VOSTOK-MEDIA – On Thursday, Vladivostok Urban Development Council has considered a project proposal for development of Karabelnaya Naberezhnaya at a session held by Vladivostok mayor Igor Pushkarev.

The point at issue was the construction of a five-star hotel complex in Karabelnaya Naberezhnaya Street.

Project Customer is Primorsky Krai Administration and OAO Nash Dom Primorye. To design the building the Customer has contracted the design organization "Branch of AOOO "RMJM Scotland Limited".

The Project designers proposed to construct a five-star hotel capable of accommodating 250 people at the site of the Vladivostok marine passenger terminal. According to the designers, the construction of the hotel complex will increase the recreational value of Korabelnaya Naberezhnaya and attract residents of and visitors to Vladivostok.

During the two-hour debates on the project, experts differed in opinion and the majority of Urban Development Council members voiced against the proposal.

According to those to disapprove of the idea of constructing the hotel complex in the citys historical center, urban development in Karabelnaya Naberezhnaya Street should be looked at in its entirety, both as a architectural monument under the Governments protection and an integral part of Vladivostoks seafront
