On October 28, 2009, fire occurred in a wooden house in Batareiny Side Street, Khabarovsk, a spokesman for Khabarovsk Krai Emergency Situations Department told Vostok-Media. Viktorya and her mother were the first to notice and report the fire. There were three children in one of the apartments in the burning house. Viktorya picked up one of the three children in her arms, covered her head with a towel, and having told the other two kids to go by her side, she got them out of the burning house. She had hardly brought them out of the house when the stair collapsed.
