Picnic - 30 Years of Creative Work

VLADIVOSTOK. May 5. VOSTOK MEDIA – 30 years of creative work is it enough? It is very difficult to keep afloat during such a period of time, to maintain and even to increase audience taking into account the change of generations and tastes and the appearance of new performers. But nevertheless the group Picnic manages to do so.
Surely, 30 years is a controversial date. The reference point is an appearance of the first album Smoke recorded in 1982. But in this case the ‘seniority’ is less. Real fans of the group consider September 1978 to be a reference point. It is a date of group creation. In 1981 the group had different changes because of fluctuation of personnel. Such a situation was till the period when a present leader Edmund Shkljarskij appeared in group. In autumn 1982 there was the first public presentation of songs in Phonograph club in Leningrad.
In 1983 Picnic became a prize-winner of Leningrad Rock-Club Festival together with Akvarium, Zoopark and Rossiane. In the middle of 80-s Picnic was in black-list because of its individuality and unwillingness to sing pompous songs. The group was criticized by Komsomol press.

Since 1985 Picnic began to play on tour. Every concert of Picnic is very original like a filmloop.
