Sakhalin Makes Preparations for International Military Music Festival

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK. November 5. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Alexander Burykin, Vice Governor of the Sakhalin Region held a working meeting on issues related to organization and conduct of the International Military Music Festival in Sakhalin scheduled on 2010.

Senior officials from the Administrative Office of Sakhalin Administration as well as regional executive bodies took part in the meeting.

According to the press-service of the Sakhalin Administration, the initiative was put forth by the Sakhalin Region Governor Alexander Khoroshavin during the Russian tour of the Central Military Band of Russia in September, 2009. The festival will be timed for the 65th Anniversary of the Second World War.

Participants in the meeting outlined a range of pressing questions to be solved in the nearest future, namely: to define countries and musical bands that will participate in the festival, to find Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk venues appropriate for conducting concerts and other organizational issues.

Organizing Committee will be set up to coordinate project implementation.

“I am confident that Sakhalin residents will enjoy a scintillating and dynamic concert,” concluded Alexander Burykin.
