So far, around 15,500 owners of non-lethal and other types of weapons have been registered in Primorsky Krai.

VLADIVOSTOK. April 7. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Vladivostok police officials say there has been an increase in accidents involving non-lethal self-defense weapons.

“Vladivostok residents have used their self-defense weapons more often lately,” says Konstantin Nalepa, Head of Firearms Licensing Department. “In addition, the number of gun owners has increased and weapons have become deadlier.”

Konstantin Nalepa advocates legalizing strictly regulated sale of firearms in Russia, because “crime has not yet been completely eradicated in the country”.

“Law abiding citizens should have an opportunity to defend themselves and their families by any means,” he said.
