Migratory Birds on the Rise in Ussuriisk

VLADIVOSTOK. April 7. VOSTOK-MEDIA – During the last week Ussuriisk residents could see a large number of migratory birds – herons, ducks and geese, cormorants, millards and even mandarin ducks.

Ornithologists say that is typical for the current weather conditions.

The severe winter and the late fall are said to be the main reason behind the birds’ behavior, Telemix channel reports. Ussuriisk ornithologists are registering mass migration of birds from their wintering areas in India, Japan and China to their usual roosting spots in Ussuriisk, Kankaisky District and Khabarovsk Krai. Experts say the birds will leave Ussuriisk in four or five days.
