U.S. Ship Arrived in Vladivostok to Take Part in Victory Day Parade

The U.S. Navys Seventh Fleet command ship USS Blue Ridge will participate in series of events dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany.

VLADIVOSTOK. May 7. VOSTOK-MEDIA - The U.S. Navys Seventh Fleet command ship USS Blue Ridge arrived in Vladivostok to take part in the festivities dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany, a spokesman of the Pacific Fleet told Vostok-Media.

This is the third visit of the Blue Ridge to the main base of the Russian Pacific Fleet - Vladivostok. This year’s visit, along with other things, is aimed at expanding the US-Russia military cooperation. The crew of the US ship is expected to pay tribute to the memory of WWII veterans and those American and Soviet soldiers who were killed during World War Two. Together with their Russian counterparts the US marines will participate in the Victory Day parade.

A number of sports events, official meetings and visits to local schools will be held as part of the American ship’s visit to the capital of Primorsky Krai. In addition, the famous Seventh Fleet Band, which has arrived on board the Blue Ridge, will team up with the Song and Dance Cmpany of the Pacific Fleet to give a joint concert in the Offiers’ Club for Russian marines and the general public of Vladivostok.

Seventh Fleet Commander, Vice Adm. John M. Bird, will hold a number of official meetings with local officials and participate in the festive events.
