Birch, ash, cedar, pine and fir trees - all kinds of trees that grow in the Khabarovsk Territory, will become part of the "Victory Forest". Settlements in all municipal districts of the region are putting such forests on the eve of May 9. Today, May 7, the park with living symbols of memory of the heroism of the Soviet people appeared alongside repair and operational base of the fleet in Khabarovsk. Top officials of the city and the province took up shovels together with youth and veterans.
"The task of our generation is keeping the memory of our fathers and grandfathers who are fought against international fascism in the distant forties, who were killed in the Great Patriotic War, and thus laid a solid foundation of peaceful development of the Soviet Union, and now the Russian Federation. Our aim is perpetuating the memory of these people, these heroes, who fought at the front, who worked in the rear. This is a sacred duty to us. Today we fulfill it "- said the governor Vyacheslav Shport.
According to RIA "Vostok-Media" project of alleys in Khabarovsk were worked ecologists, the city council of veterans of war and labor, a number of local businesses and organizations. Just by May 9 in the park were planted 70 pine seedlings which had been brought from the Amur region. Today, because of the bad weather, which had been in previous days, the soil was too wet and sticky. Therefore, the trees are being planted just next to the footpath. To the townspeople have not failed in the mud, the organizers have laid special flooring. When the planting was completed, townspeople tied to the branches of the ribbons. The final chord was the opening of the memorial stone dedicated to the "Forest of Victory."
"It is a symbol of bravery and courage of our and your fathers, grandfathers, brothers, defended the homeland, gave to all the peoples of Europe and the world freedom and independence, liberated our great country from the Nazis. I wish you all to remember their deeds and to struggle for the strengthening of our Motherland, for the glory of his native Khabarovsk Territory "- shared participating in the gala event veteran Ivan Tereshchenko.
He was during the war fought Kalinin, Voronezh, First Ukrainian and First Byelorussian fronts. Ivan Tereshchenko was called to fight against the Nazis in July 1941, on the battlefield, he met and the last day of the war.

These trees will help us to their height to communicate with young people and the older generation, and remember feat that veterans acted,"- said the chairman of the Legislative Duma of the Khabarovsk Territory Victor Chudov, thanked the winners of fascism.
As part of the nationwide project of the same name it has already planted 70,000 trees. In the Khabarovsk Territory there will be 9000.
