10,000 students filed applications for participation in ‘milestone construction projects of the century’

VLADIVOSTOK. July 7. VOSTOK-MEDIA – 70 young persons of students’ construction teams from Vladivostok and Omsk have set to work on construction of bridge crossing to Russky Island. These student teams were chosen by the tender committee for construction works among 10,000 students that filed applications for participation in ‘milestone construction projects of the century’.The students’ construction teams’ movement has just turned 45 years and it is reviving in Russia again. – This year the number of people joined various students’ construction teams is 20 thousand more than in the last year. Those who intended to get a job on ‘the milestone construction projects of the century’ in Sochi and Vladivostok had to go through toughest screening. A competitive tender on participation in construction works for hosting Sochi-2014 Olympics and APEC-2012 Summit was announced among students’ construction teams. About 10,000 people intended to gat a job on ‘the milestone construction projects of the century’ in Krasnodar Territory and Primorye. The best student teams of the country, that have already given a good account of themselves, took part in the large-scale enterprise at pan-Russian level. The ‘Leader’ team from Omsk F. M. Dostoevsky State University became one of the winners of the competitive tender held in Moscow. “We received a warm reception here: we were put in a comfortable dorm located in the bridge builder camp, provided us with decent meals and planned a tour around Vladivostok for this weekend.” – said Dmitry Levin, one of ‘Leader’ team members. “By the way, we mean to earn a hatful of money here. But the main point is that it is very interesting to work there – this project is very unique one. Here in the welding shop we’ve got state-of-the-art facilities, technology intensive lines, all processes are computerized. When we won in the competitive tender we had an option whether to work in Sochi or in Vladivostok. We discussed the option at the meeting and chose Vladivostok, because there will hardly be a chance to get to Vladivostok once more, whereas all of us sooner or later will visit Sochi.” In the middle of July the bridge-builders will receive one more students’ construction team from Omsk. That means this summer 120-125 students will take part in construction of bridge to Russky Island.
