Breastfeeding Campaign Staged in Blagoveshchensk

BLAGOVESHCHENSK. September 8. VOSTOK-MEDIA – A one-of-a-kind campaign was held in Blagoveshchensk Tuesday as part of ongoing World Breastfeeding Week. Young mothers gathered at the city’s central park to breastfeed their babies in a bid to encourage other mothers to do the same rather than use feeding-bottles. The majority of those who took part in the campaign found out about the event on the Internet. The campaign was attended by two breastfeeding counselors who shared some healthy breastfeeding tips with the young mothers.

The key thing in breastfeeding is mother’s love. The white balloons floating in the sky symbolized milk drops.

“We always tell mothers how important it is for the health of a baby and, I am tempted to say, that the health of entire nation depends on whether moms breastfeed their babies or not,” says Galina Yaremovskaya, a breastfeeding expert.

Participants in the event were unanimous in their opinion that the health of a baby is the basic reason for choosing breastfeeding. But there are others.

“It’s a sort of an emotional exchange, and there’s hardly anything to compare this feeling with when you watch these sweet dainty cheeks suckle your breast,” said a participant.

The event, which was held in Blagoveshchensk for the first time, was attended by 7 breast feeding mothers.

“Breast feeding is quite natural. Lots of people eat hot dogs and other snacks in the street. So why can’t babies feed on their mothers’ milk at any time and place?” says Darya Uskova.

The participants agreed to meet on the same day one year later. Experts maintain that the longer you breastfeed your baby the better. Elena Chernysh’s daughter, Marina, is two and a half years old but she still on her mother’s milk.

The participants in the event received various awards and prizes. Still, the main award of a mother is the good health of her child.
