When Night Falls Vladivostok Goes to the Dogs, Literally

VLADIVOSTOK. September 7. VOSTOK-MEDIA – There have been numerous reports lately about packs of stray dogs roaming downtown Vladivostok and attacking people.

A ‘gang’ of stray dogs has settled between two multi-storey residential buildings at Krasnogo Znameni Blvd. In the evenings, the homeless animals get bolder, take over the neighborhood and attack passing cars, bark at passers-by and annoy people who are trying to sleep at night by their barks and howls. There are several schools nearby and each day the schoolchildren have to risk their lives going by a dozen or so of these dangerous animals.

The fact that property management companies and law enforcement agencies are actually doing nothing to tackle stray dog menace is simply outrageous. Vladivostok has seen an increasing number of attacks of rabid dogs on people, some with fatal outcome. If officials continue to ignore the problem it would be small wonder if new fatalities follow.
