Vladivostok to Advocate Advantages of International Northern Sea Route Programme in China

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. October 8. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Northern Sea Route Commercial Project, which involves Russia, China, Europe and the West Coast of the USA, will give rise to development of Kamchatka Krai, Igor Polchenko, a president of Company Grouping Transit-DV Ltd, told RIA Vostok-Media.

In this case the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky will become a logistics center, where segregation of cargoes from Europe will be performed. From there the flow of cargoes will be redirected to the west coast of North America, Canada and China. A top-level forum on the Northern Sea Route Commercial Project will take place tomorrow in China. Igor Polchenko will be one of the participants in the forum. He intends to advocate advantages of the shipping lanes running along the coast of the Russian Arctic from Novaya Zemlya in the west to the Bering Strait in the east. In case his plans work out it will boost the development of relevant infrastructure and will lead to prosperity in the region.

Meanwhile, Transit-DV Ltd fulfils conditions laid down by the Government of Kamchatka Krai, namely changes home port on the ships registration certificate from Magadan to Kamchatka and resumes its operations under a new name of "Northeastern Shipping Company". The company will deal with deliveries of goods to the Northern Territories of Russia, gasoline supplies and, in the future, passenger transportations, reported Radio SV station.
