Mock pirates’ vessel caught a fire during the assault

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK. June 9. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Russian and Japanese coast guard vessels have joined forces in catching poachers off Sakhalin coasts. This is the biggest-ever peacetime joint naval exercises held in the Sea of Okhotsk. The scenario required that the coast guards catch poachers off Sakhalin coasts. The crew of patrol vessel ‘Aphalina’ acted the part of pirates. When the pirates refused to stop their vessel, the special forces proceeded to assault them. In a matter of seconds, members of a special unit descended from a helicopter to the pirates’ ship deck.
Pirates’ vessel caught a fire during the assault. The special forces failed to extinguish the fire and asked for help. The Japanese patrol ship Tsugaru approached the vessel in distress and extinguished the fire with water cannons. High pressure motor pumps are mandatory on boards the patrol ships of Coastal Guard. Mock chasing of poachers boat and rescue of criminals in distress at the sea were held during the naval exercises also.
Authorities gave excellent mark to the exercises.
