Three Exhibits to be Staged as Part of Pacific Meridian Film Festival

Arka art gallery is preparing to open an exibition of photographs from the private collection of Artemy Troitsky.

VLADIVOSTOK. September 9. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Three exhibits will be displayed in Vladivostok museums as part of the 8th International Film Festival Pacific Meridian.

Arsenyev Museum is preparing to stage two exhibits. The first, entitled “The Children’s Ark: Return to Vladivostok”, highlights the massive rescue of over 800 St. Petersburg children by American Red Cross volunteers during the Russian Civil War.

A detailed account of these events is provided in Vladimir Lipovetsky’s book ‘The Ark of Children, Or the Exciting Adventures of Odysseus’ and Olga Mlkina’s ‘Red Cross Above Our Heads’. Arsenyev museum will host a Q&A session with the authors, screenings of the documentary “Mission” and an exhibit of archive recordings.

The second exhibit, called “Sacred and Everlasting Memory”, is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the End of World War II. The exhibit will display photographs by the war photographer Alexander Stanovov who captured the combat path of the Soviet troops in Manchuria mountains in August 1945. Personal belongings and photographs of the Japanese war prisoners that were held in camps up until 1948 will also be displayed at the exhibition.

Arka art gallery will stage an exhibit entitled ‘Walking around Ward’. The exhibition was arranged by Russian journalist, music critic, concert promoter Artemy Troitsky. It is a collection of photographs by Vladislav Mamyshev-Monro, Oleg Kulik, Anatoly Zhuravlev and other notable photographers.

The Children’s Ark: Return to Vladivostok opens on Sept. 13 at 5:00 p.m.; Sacred and Everlasting Memory – Sept.13 at 3:30 p.m.; ‘Walking around Ward’ takes place on Sept.13 at 7:00 p.m.
