Anti-Piracy Mission of Navy Pacific Fleet Accomplished

VLADIVOSTOK. June 10. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The Navy Pacific Fleet detachment under the command of captain I rank Ildar Akhmerov, who took part in the international anti-piracy mission in the Gulf of Aden, has accomplished its counter-piracy mission. The detachment set sail to the port of Vladivostok, reported Public Information Department of the Navy Pacific Fleet.
The detachment comprises the large anti-aircraft ship ‘Admiral Panteleyev, tankers ‘Izhora’ and ‘Irkut’ and also fleet tug MB-37. The calling at the port of the department is scheduled for early July.
This is the second detachment that set sail from Vladivostok to Somalia coastal waters on March 29 and late April proceeded with arranging the first convoy in this region. In early 2009 counter-piracy operations were carried out by the large anti-aircraft ship ‘Admiral Vinogradov’, fleet tug ‘Foty Rkylov’ and tankers ‘Pechenega’ and ‘Boris Butoma’.
At present arrangement of the third detachment of the Navy Pacific Fleet that will replace the large anti-aircraft ship ‘Admiral Panteleev’ is under completion.
The ships are expected to patrol off the Horn of Africa for a month.
