Will the Russian-American relations change?

VLADIVOSTOK. 10 November. VOSTOK-MEDIA. The first meeting of Russian president Dmitri Medvedev and the U.S. president Barack Obama is expected to be held in Washington at the financial summit of the G20 in the mid-November. What can we expect?
RIA “Novosti” says the first meeting is thought to determine a future agenda of the Russian-American relations and balance of power on the international arena. Given two leaders find a common ground, Russia-Europe relations will get a new incentive for development. In case counterparts do not agree on issues, Russia will facilitate its movement towards the East intensifying relations with China.
Many Russian politicians, such as Boris Gryzlov, express their optimistic view on the Russian-American relations. But these prognoses is possible not to serve hopes.
Internet-newspaper “Vzglyad” tells about Mikhail Margelov, Chairman of the Federation Assembly on international affairs, thinking that the radical turn is unlikely to happen. According to his words, “the U.S. will not resign American anti-ballistic missile system launching in Europe”. Alexandr Khramchikhin, Director of Military and Political Analysis Institute, draw attention to the fact that the president-elect Barack Obama is inexperienced in the international policy and will take into consideration opinion of his aides, first of all, John Biden, who is a “hawkish” hard liner and hates Russia.
President of Fund “New Eurasia” Andrey Kortunov points out that Obama as a president can bring Russia new opportunities along with new challenges.
But these comments are only prognostic. No one knows how the new American president is going to conduct relations with Russia. Though, Russia has faced a fact that Dmitri Medvedev has not received an official thankful note for congratulations on Obama’s victory in the elections.
