Protection Of The Okhotskiy Sea

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKIY. 10 December. VOSTOK-MEDIA. Scientists from Kamchatka notes that the Okhotskiy Sea should be under special preservation.
Participants of the conference that took place in November, 2008 in Petropavlovsk, reported that mining of hydrocarbonic raw materials from the coastal area of the Okhotskiy and Beringov’s Sea is held without a complex consideration of possible problems.
Irrational usage of water biological resources and mass poaching in the internal waters of Kamchatka and external water territories lead to reduction in commercial kinds of fish and spineless such as: Pacific salmon, Kamchatskiy crab and etc. Participants of the conference draw attention of the legislative Assembly and Government of Kamchatka that industrial interference into the nature of the Okhotskiy and Beringov’s Sea has increased. This is thought to worsen food supply security.
Scientists proposed to the Legislative Assembly initiating a bill “About a special status of the Okhotskiy Sea”.
