Three Tankers Arrived at Kozmino for Loading

Kozmino oil terminal was put into operation.

NAKHODKA. January 11. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Libya oil ship flying the flag of Liberia and hailing from the port of Tripoli has opened a season of crude oil shipments from Kozmino oil terminal on Jan. 5.


On the following day, tanker Ashada flying the flag of Malta called at the port. On Sunday Jan. 10, Pacific Energy oil ship flying the flag of Liberia was berthed at Kozmino for loading, a spokesperson for Kozmino oil terminal told RIA Vostok-Media.


Each vessel is expected to take on board 100,000 tons of crude, which is delivered to Kozmino from Eastern Siberia. The newest port in Russia, which is the final point on the East Siberia - Pacific Ocean oil pipeline, was pt into operation in early January.


ITAR-TASS news agency reports that Kozmino oil terminal is expected to handle 15 million tons of crude hydrocarbons in 2010.


The first tanker, The Moscow University, owned by Novorossiysk Shipping Company, sailed from the port on New Year’s Eve. The oil-loading port Kozmino was launched on Dec. 28.


The construction of the oil terminal began in 2008. The project called for the construction of a 430-meter-long jetty, two berths (161- and 170-meter long), 17 km of industrial pipelines and for installation of more than 250 km of cable lines.


In addition, during the construction, 495 meters of the shore line were strengthened, a checkpoint and a fire fighting network were built. The construction of the second stage of the oil terminal for handling tankers of up to 300,000 ton capacity will soon get underway.
