First 100 km of Natural Gas Pipeline Built in Primorye

Shifting the local power stations to natural gas will decrease emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere.

VLADIVOSTOK. May 11. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The first 100 kilometers of Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok natural gas pipeline have been constructed in Primorsky Krai including 69 kilometers of pipeline that have already been put in trenches.

A spokesman for Primorsky Krai Energy Department told Vostok-Media the gas pipeline is being constructed in a fast pace. Along with the welding of pipes, builder are clearing and preparing the route of the natural gas pipeline.

A total of 561 km of pipelines will be constructed in Primorye, officials said. The pipeline under construction is expected to enable the power stations that serve Vladivostok to shift to natural gas, as well as to make natural gas available on Russky Island and Sollers car assembly plant.

Shifting the local power stations to natural gas will decrease emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere and thus improve environmental situation in the city. The project also aims to enable the local power and heating stations to cut fuel costs and to increase the stations’ capacity.
