Vladivostok Resident Won Best Young Japanologist 2009 Award

VLADIVOSTOK. November 11. VOSTOK-MEDIA - Russian Association of Japanologists has named Andry Breslavets, the associate professor at the Institute of International Relations and Social Technologies of the Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service (VSUES), the best Young Japanologist of 2009 and presented him prize money, VSUES press service told RIA Vostok-Media.

“Winning this Award is very important for me as it shows my achievements as an orientalist scientist,” says Andrey Breslavets. “The amount of the money prize matters little to me. What really matters to me is that Russian Association of Japanologists named me the best Young Japanologist of 2009. Russian Association of Japanologists is a group of the worldwide renowned japanologists. Luminaries and founders of Japanistics in USSR and Russia are honorary and current members of the association. Such names as Grigoryeva, Iskanderov, Lavrentyev, Levin, Meshcheryakov, Streltsov are widely known among those interested in Japanese Studies.”

The associate professor intends to pursue the development of Japanistics in Russia. At present Andrey Breslavets prepares a collection of materials from the recently held international symposium Japans Role in APEC for publication. He also participates in two international projects and soon will publish his third book named “Japan – Primorsky Krai: A Path to Mutual Understanding”.
