Freedoms of speech and meetings are empty words in Russia.

For 2007 the European Court of Human Rights had considered 200 citizens’ complaints against the Russian Federation, official website of the human rights commissioner in the Primorsky Krai reports.
The most frequent complaints related to long consideration of decisions (116 complaints), unlawful custody (24 complaints), and cruel treatment humiliating human merit (23 complaints). Russia was totally charged to pay ?2 mln on these complaints.
Natalia Zyabkina, deputy director of the administration of the Russian plenipotentiary to the European Court of Human Rights, told that Russia lost all the complaints relating to the freedoms of speech and meetings. These figures, Zyabkina says, “negatively affect the country’s budget.”
