The Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will take part in the XI summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference that will be held in Senegal on March 13-14, KM.ru reports.
“Deepening of friendship relations and cooperation with the Islamic world is a strategic course for Russia, a country with a significant share of Muslim population. The cooperation of Russia and Islamic world becomes especially needed nowadays when the international community faces growing religious misunderstanding and estrangement,”- official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Kamynin said.
“It’s important that positive cooperation between Russia and Muslim states is steadily growing. It develops… in political and economic spheres and in the field of humanitarian ties. The special attention is paid to the issues of international peace and security ...combating the international terrorism and creation of the atmosphere of tolerance and improving interaction between civilizations,”- Kamynin stressed.
