According to monitoring service of the Regional hydrometeorological office the most serious situation is in the Golden Horn Bay and the Diomid, in the Eastern Bosphorus strait and in the Amur Bay. The press service of Amur affiliate of the Russian World Wild Fund reports that in the bay the level of the heavy metals is too high.
Ecologists reports that the main source of pollution is sewage. As there is no purification plant in Vladivostok 1,5 million tons of sewage is split daily in the Amur Bay. The construction of purification plant began at the end of 1980s, but there was no financial support and it was stopped. Now this project is in APEC 2012 program.
