Putin Ceases to Subsidize Former Soviet States

VLADIVOSTOK. May 12. VOSTOK-MEDIA – RF Prime Minister stated that in the course of the last 15 years Russia has been selling fossil fuels to the former Soviet States at the price which is several times less than world prices.
“Russia does not use its energy pathways in regard to other countries. Russian Government trades its recourses with other countries and we want to sell these recourses on the market’s terms, at world market prices. There exist internationally accepted rules and accepted pricing formula for a product as well as transportation services.” – stated Vladimir Putin.
“We consider that this period is over. We should switch to a market economy. After the distressful and difficult things that happened last year and at the beginning of this year (Russian-Ukrainian dispute over gas supplies) , we, however, have managed to reach agreements with Ukraine and finalize them through a contract under which we have pledged to adopt a market approach to pricing and transit shipments. And it is the main and the most important guarantee of stability of relations in this sphere.” –stated Putin.
