US Adoption Agency Filed a Petition against Adoptive Mother of Russian Boy
Meanwhile, Russian authorities have suspended all US adoptions of Russian children.
VLADIVOSTOK. May 12. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Today, a Washington-based adoption agency has requested a U.S. court to launch an investigation to see whether 8-year-old Artem Saveliev was abused by his adoptive mother, Associated Press reported.
The boy had been abandoned last month by his American mother, put on a plane and sent back to Russia alone. When the boy arrived in Moscow he carried a note from his adoptive mother, Torry Hansen of Shelbyville, Tenn., saying that she no longer wanted to take care of this child because he has psychological problems.
Artem is currently in Moscow. Some Russians residing in the capital and Primorye said they want to adopt the child. Russian authorities have suspended all US adoptions of Russian children.
If the US court grants the petition and find Torry Hansen guilty, then she will have to pay support for the child until he is 18.
