Youth Christmas Charity Ball to be Held in Vladivostok

Historical ball dances will be the highlight of the event.

VLADIVOSTOK. January 13. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The first Youth Christmas Charity Ball will be held in Vladivostok on Jan. 17.


More than 200 people will take part in the fundraising event. Among them are children living in Primorsky Krai orphanages and community boarding schools, youth activists and social workers.


Organizers of the event said they aim to raise the youth awareness about Christmas, which is recognized in Russia as a national holiday, as well as to lend support to the local social institutions.


With the blessing of Archbishop of Vladivostok and Primorsky Krai Veniamin, the bishopic youth committee, Vladivostok and Primorye Eparchy, was appointed to organize the charity ball. Cossack Ensemble of National Culture Traditsiya (Tradition) and historical dance group Pazhesky Korpus (Page Corps) are co-organizers of the event.


Historical ball dances will be the highlight of the event. Visitors will have a chance to enjoy beautiful dances of 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries, such as polonaise, waltz, Polka – Troika, mazurka, Litalienne, Pas-de-Gras as well as to participate in various games.


In addition, the ball will feature fancy-dress theatrical show dedicated to Christmas, performances of the Youth Choir and Cossack Ensemble Traditsiya.


What makes this Christmas ball unique is that it will be the final and most exiting event in a series of events within Good Deeds for Christmas campaign, which was launched early Jan. by the bishopic youth committee, Vladivostok and Primorye Eparchy. The money raised will be donated to the local social institutions.


The Youth Christmas Charity Ball will be held Jan. 17 at 5 p.m. in Pushkin Theatre (27, Pushkinskaya Str.).
