One of the major tasks is to teach the tiger to hide from people

VLADIVOSTOK. July 13. VOSTOK-MEDIA – At the present time, a tiger cub that was saved from death this winter, is in a rehab center centre located in a village of Gaivoron Spassk region.
“The tiger cub has put on to 10 kg during a months stay in the rehab center”, - said Viktor Yudin, Senior Research Associate, Cand. Sc. Biology who is at present time supervising rehabilitation actions on preparing the animal for release into the wild. “One of the major tasks was to teach the tiger cub to hide from people. In case the predator have not a fear of people then it may live near residential area and thus pose a danger to people’s lives.”
“The tiger cub is kept in a separate open-air cage, in which no one may enter. To make an animal have a fear of people contacts with them should be avoided. I am the only person that visits the cage with the tiger. If I enter the cage the animal hides behind bushes at once.” – says Viktor Yudin.
Our next task is to help this beast of prey acquire hunting habits. Release of the animal into the wild is scheduled for fall, 2009. Before letting out the animal into its natural habitat a tracking collar will attached to the cub tiger allowing scientists keep track on it.
