New Sanctuary in Primorye

VLADIVOSTOK. 13 November. VOSTOK-MEDIA. “Leopardoviy” is the new sanctuary of federal importance on the territory of Primorye.
Two natural parks “Barsoviy” and “Borisovskoe plato” were merged into one which has become a new sanctuary. Newly created sanctuary is aimed at protecting of Far Eastern leopard and will support growing population of the animals. Today, Far Eastern leopard is the rarest kind of catlike animals. There are only 40 individuals left on the planet.
Traditionally, environmental protection is one of the Primorye communitys concerns. Sanctuaries and natural parks hold sets of actions aimed at preserving unique flora and fauna. Last year saw a creation of new national parks “Zov Tigra” and “Udegeiskaya legenda”; now there are rare animals representing fauna of South taiga, specially protected .
Environmental protection is one of the main concerns of the international forum “Nature Without Boundaries” which was opened in Vladivostok.
This week scientific communities of Primorye, ecologists and officials have met to contribute to preserving natural uniqueness of Primorye.
