Primorsky Krai Governor to Participate in APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting 2009 in Singapore

Sergey Darkin will take part in the top level talks, including the bilateral meetings between Dmitry Medvedev and heads of China, Korea and Japan.

VLADIVOSTOK. November 13. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Primorsky Krai Governor Sergey Darkin will take part in the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting 2009 on the RF official delegation headed by Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev, press service of the regional administration reports.


The summit will be held in Singapore on November 13th through 16th. The theme of the summit, which will take place at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre, is: “Rebuilding the Global Economy: Crisis and Opportunity”. Sergey Darkin will participate in the top level talks, including the bilateral meetings between Dmitry Medvedev and heads of China, Korea and Japan.


In addition, a number of meetings of heads of states and business circles will be held during the summit. As it has in the past, multibillion contracts and agreements will be concluded in the course of the major international forum.


The programme of the summit will consist of 16 sessions, at which heads of the USA, Japan, China, Vietnam, Singapore, Australia, Mexico, Thailand as well as other countries will deliver their speeches. Representatives of the world largest corporations and financial organizations, such as Microsoft, Morgan Stenley, Exxon Mobile, Procter & Gamble, Siemens, will take part in the sessions. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will make a presentation at the session “World Economy Plan of Action: Top-Priority Actions”.
The Primorsky Krai delegation plans to visit the Russian cruiser Varyag, which is now serving the Russian Navy.


It should be recalled that the previous APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting was held in Peru on November 22 through 23. Vladivostok will host the international forum in 2012.


The first Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting was held in 1989. In 1998 Russia joined APEC. This is the seventh time that Primorsky Krai Governor Sergey Darkin participates in the high-profile international forum, which serves as a venue for meeting of the heads of 21 states and business representatives. More than 2.5 bln people reside in APEC member countries. They account for nearly half of the total world trade. The present day APEC is a forum for the most developed countries.
