The aircraft wreckage was found in Taiga only in 2008

VLADIVOSTOK. May 15. VOSTOK-MEDIA - Remains of Aviators that gone missing in action more than 50 years ago were committed to the ground in Primorskiy Krai. The spot of wreckage of one of the fleet air regiments was found by the search team. There were remains of senior lieutenant Nikolai Sovrasov, Andrey Chirkasov and radio-operator gunner Nikolai Kuleshov.


The jet bomber aircraft IL-28 had crashed in 1955 in Shkotovskiy district, Primorskiy Krai. Parts of the crashed plane were found only in summer 2008. They were strewn over mountain slope. On impact, the plane broke into several major pieces among which were: the wings, the tail and the engine.


In 1950s there were several Navy Pacific Fleet fighter wings in Primorskiy Krai, equipped with IL-28 planes. It is one of the first jet aircrafts.


The Chief of Air Force and Air Defense of the Navy Pacific Fleet Albert Nuretdinov, officers of the RF Navy Pacific Fleet, veterans, members of the public and pupils took part in funeral procession.
