Fund Raising Event for HIV Positive Kids to be Held in Vladivostok

Money raised at the charity auction will be spent on vitamins and baby food.

VLADIVOSTOK. May 14. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Today, Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service (VSUES) will host a charity event aimed at raising money for HIV positive children.

Funds raised at the charity auction will be spent on vitamins and baby food for HIV positive children living in low-income families and orphanages.

VSUES has come forward to volunteer as a main venue for the charity auction, held as part of HIV Awareness Initiative. Support for the event comes from the US Consulate General in Vladivostok, the Primorsky Krai representative office of the United Russian political party, and the local business community.

Among items to be sold at the auction are 50 t-shirts painted by HIV positive children, painters and VSUES Design Departmnt students.

Each t-shirt is a one-of-a-kind item with a starting price of 1,500 rubles ($50).

Organizers are inviting the public to attend the charity auction, which will be held on May 14 at 4:00 in the ‘Underground’ theater.

Along with the auction, the event will include screenings of documentaries and performances of creative teams of VSUES.

There are 8,400 HIV positive, including 130 children and minors, residing in Primorsky Krai, the largest number in the Russian Far East. More than half of those HIV-infected account for young people below 30.
