High-Ranking Military Men were Convicted for Embezzlement on a Large Scale
Compound damage to the state amounted to 33 million rubles
VLADIVOSTOK. April 15. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The garrison military court of Khabarovsk convicted lieutenant colonel Vadim Gukasov, administrative commandant of the training center of the Far Eastern military district. He was found guilty of committing embezzlement on a large scale.
The RF Prosecutor’s General Office, Khabarovskiy Krai states that during the inspection carried out by the military attorney department it was found out that since February 2003 until April 2007 Gusakov stole more than 2400 ton of fuel oil meant for heating of two military units of the region. The stolen oil was sold to commercial organizations of Khabarovsk. At the time the damage to the Government amounted to 13.5 million rubles. The court sentenced the colonel to 7-year term. Moreover he was deprived of his military rank. The court also sustained the claim to compensate monetary damages for losses caused.
We remind that on April 6 the RF Prosecutor’s General Office, Khabarovskiy Krai has already sentenced Alexandr Kulikov, fuel supply depot commander, lieutenant colonel. He was found guilty of embezzlement of oil fuel on a large scale. The caused damage amounted for 20 million rubles.
