RF Government Imposes Ban on Import of Holland Flowers in Primorskiy Krai

VLADIVOSTOK. May 15. VOSTOK-MEDIA – All-Russian center for plant quarantine prevented import of over 1000 cut flowers in Primorskiy Krai infected tenacious plant pests. All contaminated flowers – mainly golden daisies and gerberas from Holland - were eliminated, and further import from Holland was prohibited.
The basis for the ban was contamination of the flowers with European thrips. These species of pests are found in limited locations of the Russian Federation and are put under national quarantine.
According to experts, the thrips is one of the most dangerous species of pests. It poses danger to 244 plant species and to some vegetable crops.
