BLAGOVESHCHENSK. July 15. VOSTOK-MEDIA – Creation of a multipurpose special nature reserve in Verkhne-Amursk is slated for the near future. Igor Kovalchuk, Chief Authority for Wild Life Protection and Special Protected Natural Areas provided an insight into the project at the meeting of local state authorities. According to I.Kovalchuk, the issue on creation of special protected natural area in Cherepelsk Krivuny (Meanders), Skovorodinsk region has been raised continually. Project basis has been developed by Research & Integration Firm Botanicheskoe Informatsyonnoe Agenstvo (Botanic Information Agency) as far back as in 1993.
Specialists point out that creation of nature reserve is very topical subject today, because of the quantum leap in human impact on nature that has occurred in this region.
The protected area is expected to embrace 50,700 hectare. The Authority for Wild Life Protection was assigned to prepare all necessary documents until September. Today, more than 130 national monuments of regional and local significance were given an official status in 1870-90s.
