Russian Government Imposes a Curfew for Teenagers

MOSCOW. April 16. VOSTOK-MEDIA – The State Duma adopted an amendment in the law «On Basic Guarantees of the Rights of the Child in the Russian Federation». It refers to setting restrictions on presence of minors in public places late at night.
The inserted amendments allow the RF regions right to decide on their own as to determine a list of such places, where teenagers are restricted to be present at night without parents or surrogate parents. The list includes gambling establishments, restaurants, cafes, bars, night clubs, film theatres, other buildings dealing with entertainment field and also streets, parks, public gardens, stadiums, municipal transport.
The amendments made during the second reading allow those restrictions to be applied to children aged up to 18, rather than of 14-year olds.
