The Number of Unemployed in Primorskiy Krai Increases

VLADIVOSTOK. March 17. VOSTOK-MEDIA - The long queues occurred in employment centers of Primorskiy Krai because of the rise in unemployment. Public officers have to work with laid off persons even in day offs. According to regulations a person is supposed to wait acceptance in queue not more than half an hour. But these regulations are designed for normal, routine operation. But now situation has changed. The number of applications has increased in 1.5.
The unemployment rate in Primorskiy Krai reached 40,000. In January, 2009 the number was 32,000 of unemployed.
According to the optimistic scenario the regional authorities will manage to maintain the unemployment rate at the level 39-40 thousand unemployed persons in 2009 whereas according to the pessimistic scenario the number will be 47-48 thousand.
For the last two months 15 thousand people contacted employment centers. 800 of them are those who lost their jobs as the result of closing down of business or downsizing.
