This move followed the city authorities’ decision to release the main streets of the city from the profitless electric transport

VLADIVOSTOK. August 17. VOSTOK-MEDIA - Dismantling of the street railway systems commenced in Vladivostok, reported Vostok-Media reporter.

This move followed the city authorities’ decision to release the main streets of the city from the profitless electric transport. A part of the car track at the crossing of Svetlanskaya Street with Aleutskaya Street has been already removed and asphalted. A part of Aleutskaya Street has been closed to vehicular traffic, therefore traffic patterns for public transportation has been changed; traffic police personnel were put on duty at the working site.

Some experts say the streetcars hinder traffic during rush hour periods, bring about dangerous for buildings vibration and deteriorate roadway surfacing. Some extra bus services will be set up to fill the gape caused by the removing of the electrical transport for convenience of the residents of the city.

Tram is history.
